Chelsea Christmas lights Switch-on – 19th November

The King’s Road Partnership is transforming the Chelsea Christmas lights switch-on, which takes place this year on Saturday 19th November, beginning with a full day of family-fun activities from 11am, through to the big Christmas lights switch-on at 5pm.

Steven Medway, King’s Road Partnership CEO comments: “For the very first time the Partnership has been able to extend Christmas lights on the King’s Road all the way to Bluebird, hanging a grand total of 62,000 LED lights that will make a real difference to the festive atmosphere this year. The street will also be pedestrianised for easier access.

“The Partnership has also put in place another six-metre tree opposite the Post Office, an extra display at the Cadogan Arms, more decorated trees at Royal Avenue and Dove House Green, and a further 11 lighting columns, bringing the total to 62. All of these new additions are biodegradable.”

The street will additionally feature a Fine Food market and full line-up of fun activities for all the family from 11am onwards, including meeting Santa’s reindeer, glass bauble blowing and complimentary horse and carriage rides.

Father Christmas himself will light up the streets at 5pm, followed by a Santa’s Grotto pop-up.

Visitors will enjoy a wide array of sumptuous seasonal food and drink, outdoor seating, and even a Bavarian curling rink.

Steven concludes: “Working with our partner Cadogan, the district will be sparkling with festive lights, glittering trees, seasonal menus, al fresco dining, fantastic shopping and unmissable events for a great day out. We can’t wait to welcome everyone.”
